Types of mentoplasty

Augmentation or reduction focuses on improving a very small or very prominent chin through surgical techniques or bone remodeling to create harmony, facial balance and aesthetics in the face.

Asymmetry correction is performed when there is an uneven or crooked chin. Corrective mentoplasty focuses on aligning and balancing these irregularities to achieve a more symmetrical and harmonious facial appearance.

On the other hand, advancement (advancement genioplasty) or retrogression (retrogression genioplasty) mentoplasty is performed to reposition the chin forward or backward, respectively, to improve facial harmony.
