Otoplasty
Plastic surgery of the ears
Otoplasty is a surgery in which the deformities of the ear are resolved, the most frequent is the operation of detached ears (separated, prominent, in loop).
Generally, it is a surgery that takes place in children between 4 and 14 years old. The ears have grown almost completely at 4 years, so the sooner the surgery is performed, the less ridiculous the child will spend in school.
A small incision is usually made in the back of the ear to expose the atrial cartilage. Then the cartilage is sculpted and folded back; Internal points can be used to maintain the new shape. Occasionally, it may be necessary to remove part of the cartilage to obtain a more natural ear.
A bandage is placed to shape the ears so that they heal in the correct position. Once removed (a week) the stitches are removed and an elastic band is placed for two weeks to prevent the ears from folding forward during sleep.
